The Berrington experience begins with the extraordinary building and grounds, but it’s the Berrington Club advantages that set us most apart. These advantages include:

  • Luxurious and large resident rooms. Whichever room you choose, it will be large and bright. Our rooms are some of the largest offered on Australia, and all rooms allow for a sleeping area and a seating area.
  • Kitchenette in every room. This is your home, and we believe every home must have some form of kitchen. You will have no need to cook, but with a sink, fridge and kettle you are able to make refreshments for yourself and for guests. And the benchtops are engineered stone, with glass splashbacks.
  • Accommodation for couples. We have some rooms that are interconnected (so that one room could be used as a bedroom while the other is used as a living room) as well as a number of very large rooms which can accommodate two people.
  • Luxurious ensuite bathrooms. Our bathrooms may be designed for full staff assistance of required, but they are also beautiful rooms. Full height porcelain tiling and bespoke plumbing fixtures are included, as are thoughtful features like a low-brightness downlight over the toilet which switches on from a motion sensor.
  • Premium window dressings. These are full-height and superb quality.
  • Individual air-conditioning. You have complete control over the temperature of your room. All the public spaces are also air-conditioned.
  • Your own telephone, with complimentary line rental and unlimited calls.
  • 50 inch smart-television in every resident room, with free movies and selected subscription services.
  • A selection of beautiful lounges. We offer you many choices in rooms to meet and socialise – from the beautiful main lounge/dining spaces on every floor, to smaller lounges, the Berrington Como Clubroom, and the Café. You may also notice that we have a Yamaha full-size grand piano on every floor – which we use for concerts, recitals and occasionally just background live music at mealtimes.
  • We have over 170 original artworks throughout the building. We selected these over a number of years, and if you’re interested you can wander over every floor to see them all (although that’s quite a walk!).
  • We have planned our gardens and will maintain them to a very high standard. We have wandering paths, exquisite bronze statues, a Wisteria terrace and gazebo.
  • Berrington Room. This is a private function room available for any private function. It is really quite special, and we’d be happy to cater for any small function you may desire (there will be a nominal charge for catering of course).
  • With each resident room we offer beautiful furniture, including two upholstered chairs, coffee table and lamps, an over-bed table, and king-single electric bed. The bed is designed and made just for us – it is not only large and finished with timber, but it also will lower to just above the floor (in the event we have a resident who may be prone to falling out of bed).
  • Our tableware is pretty special. We have different settings for each meal of the day, but you can expect double linen table cloths, crystal stemware and fine porcelain plates.
  • We have a large library, distributed in a number of our antique bookcases around the building. Let our staff know what you like, and we’ll bring them to you.
  • We give you choice of a range of Australian newspapers. If you’d like more than one, just let us know and we will organise it for you at a nominal cost.
  • We distribute a range of magazines around the main lounges.

Berrington Club Services

So, that’s a lot about the building, fittings and furniture, but the Berrington Club offers so much more. We want to serve you exceptionally well, with things like:

Every Friday we hold a happy hour (well, three actually: one on each floor). Family and friends are welcome to join the residents for complimentary sumptuous hors-d’oeuvres and drinks.

Complimentary drinks throughout the day, and wine and beer at lunch and dinner.

Our café off the foyer is very popular, especially as we offer complimentary snacks, top quality coffee (Blacklist) and a range of teas. It’s a great spot to meet friends.

Lifestyle activities. We have an enthusiastic team who offer all sorts of activities for you to choose from, seven days a week. Most aged care facilities shut down a lot of activity on the weekends but at Berrington: life goes on! We organise bus trips to shops, cinemas and restaurants (with a cost for tickets and your purchases of course). We will also offer trips (in our own well-fitted bus) to gardens and local attractions.

Outstanding meals. Our chefs work on-site seven days a week to bring you restaurant quality meals for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And why should you have to choose what you want to eat tomorrow? All our meals are a-la-carte: you have choices of hot and cold food for breakfast, and choices amongst three courses for lunch and dinner.

Our hairdressing salon runs five days a week, with qualified and experienced staff. This team can also organise massage, beautician services and manicures. These services will be separately invoiced.

We have a concierge seven days a week. They not only welcome friends and visitors to Berrington, and keep an eye on the café, but are there to chase down any special requests you may have.

We have registered nurses (all experienced in aged-care) on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We also have some of our management team onsite, seven days a week.

We have a dedicated housekeeping team, also onsite seven days a week.

One of the advantages of our large resident rooms is that we are able to offer to accommodate a visitor overnight on a fold-up bed. This may be helpful when residents first move in, or during illness.

This is your home, and you are going to want on occasion to share mealtimes with your family and friends. Just give our staff some notice, and we will serve them with the same care as you. We will make a nominal charge (currently it’s $25 per meal – which is amazing for three courses including wine!)

Now, many of our residents will spend their last days with us, and we consider it a privilege to assist our residents and their families at this difficult time. Our palliative care program allows us to provide a personal carer 24 hours a day.
